Duncan MacVicar, President
Duncan MacVicar is a long-time community volunteer, for the Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, El Camino Hospital, Craigslist Foundation, and Career Action Center . He enjoys recruiting for his alma mater at local high schools. CSA has given him a passion for assisting the homeless.
Duncan's resume includes Army officer, consulting, and management at Hewlett-Packard, Spectra-Physics, and a start-up company. He is a Certified Management Consultant, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and Vietnam veteran.
He attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and UC Berkeley. He loves to sing, hike, and travel with his wife Jeanne, daughter Bryn, and son-in-law Chris.
Rick Magnuson, Vice President
Rick Magnuson grew up in Wallace, Idaho and attended Stanford University where he received his undergraduate degree in economics, MBA and JD degrees. He has worked in the venture capital business since 1982 and is currently an angel investor in emerging growth companies in the Bay Area. He and his wife Amy have four children and have lived in Los Altos since 1982.
He works with CSA because of a strong belief in the mission of the organization and a sense of duty to give back to the community.
Gisela Daetz, Secretary

Gisela Daetz spent her childhood in Hamburg, Germany. Growing up with both the visible and invisible scars of war led her to a firm belief in the need to reach out to our neighbors with arms of compassion. As a teen, she lived two years in Manila, the Philippines, before coming to California. She earned her BA at UC Berkeley, married her husband Douglas in 1962, raised three sons and is blessed with eight grandchildren. In the seventies her family lived in Mexico City for two years and another year in San Jose, Costa Rica. Living in these countries gave her an appreciation for their language and culture.
Upon returning to California, she earned a secondary teaching credential and a Master's Degree from the University of Santa Clara. She taught German and Spanish in the Mountain View-Los Altos High School District and English as a Second Language to adults for the Fremont Union High School District.
She is a "full-time good-for-nothing", serves as President of the Church Council at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Los Altos, chairs the Alpha Omega Task Force which supports CSA's services to the homeless and organizes the annual Empty Bowls Soup Supper. She feels blessed to be able to work together with so many people who share her passion to be positive agents of change in their communities.
Phil Rose was born and raised in San Jose where he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business from SJSU. While in graduate school, he worked as an intern for the City of Mountain View. This experience led to a 30 year career in City Management including work with the cities of Los Altos, Placerville, and Mountain View. For the past 35 years, Phil and his wife, Patti, have lived in either Mountain View or Los Altos and have raised their two daughters in Los Altos. After retirement from city management, Phil wanted an opportunity to do more volunteer work in our community and he feels fortunate to be able to do this at CSA.

Mark Bollwinkel
Mark S. Bollwinkel was born and raised in the Mid-West, coming to Northern California to finish high school. He experienced the call to ministry at the age of 16. Mark attended Callison College of the University of the Pacific in a program requiring residence and study in non-western cultures; his sophomore year was spent in South India and he participated in a six-month anthropology seminar in the Yucatan of Southern Mexico in his Junior year.
Mark chose to attend the School of Theology at Claremont in part to work in the field of international development studies. During his course at CTS he spent a year working with the Methodist Church in Kenya. Upon graduation he was assigned to lead the seminary program of the Iban Conference of the Methodist church of Malaysia.
Since 1982 Mark has served local churches in the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist church. He is currently in his 11th year as Senior Pastor of Los Altos United Methodist Church. He is married to Bonnie Bollwinkel, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; they have recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. They have two sons, Daniel and Matthew.
In his “spare time” Mark is a potter, fisherman and devoted San Francisco Giants fan.

Alicia Crank

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Alicia Crank moved to Mountain View in 1998. She has a professsional background in Hospitality Management, Institutional Cash Management and Search Engine Marketing. Alicia currently serves as the Program Director for Community Hope and Sober Events (CHASE) as well as Program Director for Leadership Mountain View (LMV).
Alicia has been involved in local community service and volunteerism for nearly a decade. In 2001, Alicia applied to and was appointed to the Mountain View Human Relations Commission, where she served two terms. She also served as the Community Service Chair for the Rotary Club of Mountain View and serves on the boards of Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC), Peninsula Democratic Coalition (PDC) and Democratic Activists for Women Now (DAWN).
Alicia is an advocate for children and adults with special needs. She works to support such programs as E-Soccer, an inclusive sports program where typical and special needs children learn and play soccer together. She has also worked to support the Hope Technology School, a one-of-a-kind school in East Palo Alto where inclusive education for typical and special needs children is implemented.
Harvey Dixon
Harvey Dixon arrived in the Bay Area in 1947 where he was stationed at Moffett Field in the Navy. He met Beverly, a native of San Jose, and decided she was a good enough reason to stay in the Bay Area and attend Stanford. He has been happily married for 57 years, and have four children and 10 grandchildren.
After receiving his MS in Industrial Engineering, he worked at Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International) for 27 years in a variety of research and managerial positions. Following SRI I spent 5 years in the Semiconductor Equipment Business, and retired after another 5 years in the Venture Capital Business.
He has been active in a variety of leadership roles at the Los Altos United Methodist Church for the past 50 years. He has enjoyed working for Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together in Silicon Valley, and building houses in Mexico and El Salvador. He served on the Board of the United Methodist Foundation and chaired the Investment Committee. He supported the Alpha Omega shelter program, and is looking forward to a deeper involvement in the work of CSA.
Billie Dungan
Billie Dungan earned a BA in Sociology from University of Texas, and an MS from San Jose State and Andrus Institute of Gerontology at USC. As a community volunteer while raising three children, she entered the job market late. She has a lifetime certificate in Adult Education/Community College and taught "Challenge of Maturity" in Palo Alto Adult School for many years while working developmentally at Palo Alto Senior Center, then later as Director of Social Service at Palo Alto Red Cross. She worked at Stanford for many years in Gerontology Research before entering a second marriage and living on aranch for 13 years. She then did substitute teaching among migrant children in the Valley and continued to substitute teach in Mountain View and Palo Altoupon moving back to the Bay Area. She has been on many boards, most recently on Los Altos Morning Forum as Hospitality Chair. Additionally, she is very active in El Camino YMCA and a volunteer ranger at Shoreline in Mountain View.

Tilmin Hudson

Tilmin Hudson is a self proclaimed "charity junkie". She has walked, rode her bicycle and been part of relay teams for charity for numerous years. She previously worked as a Social Worker for 12 years working in Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled, Autistic Spectrum and Mental Health populations before changing careers to Organizational Development.
William James
Bill James grew up in Detroit and later studied Mechanical Engineering and History at the U.S. Naval Academy. After leaving the Navy, he attended Stanford Law School and he now works as a patent attorney at Van Pelt, Yi & James LLP in Cupertino. Bill lived in Mountain View for over ten years prior to moving to Los Altos, where he now lives. Bill is married and has three small children. Bill believes CSA is one of the most effective social service agencies on the Peninsula, and he is proud to participate as a Board member in CSA's efforts to provide services directly to the most needy members of our local community.
Lisa Lane Kasperzak
Lisa Kasperzak has been actively working with nonprofits in a variety of ways for the past 30 years. Raised in a family which recognized the value of community service, she has developed a “hobby” of working with local nonprofits. “CSA is a shining star among local organizations,” said Ms. Kasperzak when asked to join the Board of Directors. Professionally, she has merged her passion for community service with chosen profession of consulting and project management. She has assisted many organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and the Peninsula in ensuring the effective and efficient use of donor funds. She, and her husband Mike, are proud to be associated with the exceptional team at CSA.

Jeannie Richter
Jeannie Richter is a native Californian. She received her undergraduate degree from San Jose State and her Masters Degree in Early Intervention from Santa Clara University. She started as a teacher with Project Head Start in San Jose and moved on to direct the Los Altos Parent Preschool, part of the MVLA Adult School.
Jeannie’s next position with the Adult School was as Director of Parent Education and Child Care. She taught in the Young Parent’s Program and was awarded the Even Start Family Literacy Grant, a federally funded program for low income families and teen parents. She also received a grant to start The Blossom Project, a local teen pregnancy prevention program, now taught through CHAC in the local middle schools.
Jeannie’s life work has been about supporting families in their efforts to raise happy, healthy, well-educated children. Working with CSA will offer a new opportunity to serve those families who are most in need.
Jeannie and her husband, Wells, have lived in Los Altos for 30 years, where they raised their two sons. They enjoy traveling the world and visiting their sons in San Francisco, where they cheer on the Giants!
Deepak Sharma

Deepak Sharma is a strategy consultant with a passion to change people and businesses. He started his career in the Silicon Valley as part of the marketing organization at Cypress Semiconductors. For the past several years he has been a part of the Strategy & Transformation practice at IBM. Deepak has over a decade of experience focused on B2B Sales / Solutions Marketing transformations & Mergers/Acquisitions/Divestiture management at a global level. He has helped a wide spectrum of clients (semiconductors, janitorial services, medical equipment, ATE manufacturers, consumer electronics, digital solution manufacturers...) to shape their strategy, establish services / solutions growth and successfully integrate multi-billion dollar mergers and acquisitions.
Deepak is also actively involved with the Taproot Foundation in Silicon Valley by providing pro-bono consulting to non-profits - helping them understand/define their brand identity and shape their strategy for success. He is an active board member of BITSAA International and involved in both growing the organization and establishing the founding principles, mission and vision. As a Mountain View resident, he is very excited to be part of CSA and is looking forward to contribute/ further CSAs mission/vision and enhance the quality of life for all in the community.
In his spare time, Deepak loves to 'goof off' with his daughter and wife, have friends over for a 'single malt' session, watch Bollywood & Hollywood movies, try to hit the golf ball accurately and works towards his "PhD in LifeFun".
Laura Stefanski
Laura Stefanski has been the Director of the Mountain View-Los Altos UHSD Adult School since 2003, the Assistant Director since 1995, and a program coordinator there since 1991. She has a B.A. degree in English from San Diego State University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University. Laura is a Leadership Mountain View graduate from 1998, on the CONNECT Steering Committee, and is active in numerous adult education organizations throughout the state.
Laura is honored to be an active working member of the Mountain View community, lives in Palo Alto, and has two sons in various stages of college.
