Rick Magnuson, Treasurer
I grew up in Wallace, Idaho and attended Stanford University where I received my undergraduate degree in economics, MBA and JD degrees. I have worked in the venture capital business since 1982 and am currently an angel investor in emerging growth companies in the Bay Area. My wife, Amy, and I have four children and have lived in Los Altos since 1982.

I work with CSA because of a strong belief in the mission of the organization and a sense of duty to give back to the community.

Gisela Daetz, Secretary
Thanks to the unfathomable grace of God my life was spared during the horrendous bombings on my hometown, Hamburg, Germany during the second World War.  My father's years as a POW in the Ukraine and the death of two uncles in this terrible conflict, as well as growing up in the shadow of the unspeakable atrocities perpetrated by people who share my culture and language, have left indelible marks on my soul.  I learned early that human beings are capable of inflicting great suffering on one another.

However, other childhood experiences convinced me that we are on this earth to be a blessing for others and that we always have the choice to follow the call of our better nature.

When I was 14 we left Germany, lived in Manila, the Philippines for two years and then immigrated to the USA.  I finished High School in California and earned my BA at the University of California in Berkeley.  My husband, Douglas and I were married in 1962 and were blessed with three sons, David, Daniel and Stephen.  Now we are also the  fortunate grandparents of 8 grandchildren.  During these years we lived for two years in Mexico City and another year in Costa Rica.  These were times of great cultural and linguistic enrichment for all five of us.  Upon our return to Sunnyvale I served for two years on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission and returned to Santa Clara University to earn a Secondary Teaching Credential and Master's Degree in Counseling.  The next several years were dedicated to teaching in the Mountain View/Los Altos High School District and up until now occasionally teaching for Adult Education in the Fremont Union High School District.

After retiring from teaching High School I became involved in CSA's Alpha Omega Program, serving as coordinator for my congregation, Immanuel Lutheran Church, for eight years, as well as chairing the Alpha Omega Steering Committee for five years.
Currently I chair the Alpha Omega Task Force and work on its Housing subcommittee and chair the Empty Bowls Event in spring. Both my husband and I are active in our congregation's Social Ministry (Outreach) Committee.

Harvey Dixon
I arrived in the Bay Area in 1947 where I was stationed at Moffett Field in the Navy.  I met Beverly, a native of San Jose, and decided she was a good enough reason to stay in the Bay Area and attend Stanford.  We have been happily married for 57 years, and we have four children and 10 grandchildren.

After receiving my MS in Industrial Engineering, I worked at Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International) for 27 years in a variety of research and managerial positions.  Following SRI I spent 5 years in the Semiconductor Equipment Business, and retired after another 5 years in the Venture Capital Business.

I have been active in a variety of leadership roles at the Los Altos United Methodist Church for the past 50 years.  I have enjoyed working for Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together in Silicon Valley, and building houses in Mexico and El Salvador.  I served on the Board of the United Methodist Foundation and chaired the Investment Committee.  I supported the Alpha Omega shelter program, and I am looking forward to a deeper involvement in the work of CSA.
