As Development Director I am the chief fundraiser for the agency, making sure we have a good mix of government, foundation, business, and individual giving to sustain the services we provide today and for the future. With the support and assistance of the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers, I organize and plan the annual Spring Dinner Dance & Fundraising Event and our Hometown Heroes breakfast every September. My job is to ensure communications with our donors soliciting contributions for our year-end campaign and for any challenge grants we night have, in addition to communicating the impact, results, and value of their gifts to the lives of those we help.
My kids have flown their mother’s coop to Anchorage, Grand Rapids, and Tempe, so I’ve moved to San Francisco where I lead the life of a bon-vivant and raconteur.

Estela Salgado Operations Assistant 650.968.0836 ext. 148 | esalgado[AT]csacares[DOT]org
|
|
I have been with CSA for almost 40 years. When I first moved from Mexico City in 1968, my first job was as a driver for the English as a Second Language program that CSA started, which has now moved on to Adult Education. At that time, I was learning English as well, and after two years, I became the receptionist for the agency and soon the assistant to the director. I later became a case worker for the Emergency Assistance program, and then as its director. I retired when I was 65, but returned to work part-time as the Operations Assistant.
I have been able to play many roles and see CSA change. After all these years, I feel that the best part of CSA is helping people in need and seeing them get out of the situations they are in. I’ve seen people working and make it on their own and this makes me feel good.
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my four grandchildren. Usually, the 7 year old spends time with me on the weekends and he and I have a great time together. I love attending
his sports games and school events.

|
|
Alison Hopkins is the Director of Volunteers, managing over 400 volunteers a year, and coordinating CSA’s Holiday Sharing Program. She adores working in an environment that thrives when helping people in need. She especially loves coming to work every day to such a warm-hearted group of staff and volunteers that really make these successful programs possible.
Alison started her nonprofit work through Americorps VISTA, which placed her in charge of volunteers and outreach for the Santa Clara County Meals on Wheels program. That was when she realized that the nonprofit world is where she belongs.
Alison began her work with the community at Humboldt State University, directing a mental health and education program through the Psychology Department.
Jessie was Alison’s beloved Rottweiler when she lived in Arcata and the two of them loved nothing more than romps on the beaches or in the local Redwood forests. She is a lover of camping, hikes, cooking and all animals (except emus and ostriches).

Leslie Iglesias Emergency Assistance Case Manager

|
|
I am Leslie Iglesias, an Emergency Assistance case worker at CSA. My duties include conducting intake of clients to determinate eligibility for program. I also work with other agencies to provide clients with quality referrals and assistance.
In our community there are many people that are in need, and most of them they do not know where should go? Who can help them? Who can listen to them? It is my job to give them the help and resources that are provided with dignity and respect. It’s rewarding because I see their faces and their satisfaction and gratitude when I help them get out of their situations. It is great to know that I can give help to those that are in need.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my little baby.
I am always excited to be with her (and with the father) and try my best to make her life happy. I also love to watch baseball games—I am the San Francisco Giants’ number one fan, so I am really enjoying my life at this time.

She also strives to provide the seniors with the most up to date health information and motivates the seniors to participate in the program by coming up with creative ways to celebrate special events.
At the Food and Nutrition Center, Laura’s goals are to promote nutrition education to the underserved population and to provide the most nutritious food possible for her clients. Degree in Health Science with a Minor in Gerontology, after attending many years of night school. Her goal was to be a health educator and thanks to CSA, she has attained that goal.

Proudly, Mountain View Masters has been participating in the Holiday Share Program and holiday food drives since 1998.
Laura always hoped her career path would lead to a position such as this but had no idea how much personal satisfaction and enjoyment she would gain by helping those in need. She is very proud to say she is a part of the CSA team and enjoys working with everyone as she knows they are all here for the same goal…to help those less fortunate and to make their lives a little easier, day by day.
